Nevil Ready – the Sheriff of Buttermilk Bluffs, Nevil is more on Bruce’s payroll than the town’s.  As Bruce’s man-at-hand, Nevil is forced to do all of Bruce’s dirty work.  However, being a lackey doesn’t concern him half as much as finding out who it was who did his brother, Evan, in.  He is determined to find his brother’s killer, if it’s the last thing he does.
